Augusta is a great Airport alternative to Wichita's busy and crowded airspace. Augusta has a new WAAS certified LPV instrument approach, a 4200' runway and a brand new taxiway and airport lighting system HIRL. 3AU is only six miles east of Wichita on US HWY 54 / 400 and lies just outside of Class C airspace. 3AU provides all the amenities found at the BIG airport including very cheap Jet-A and 100LL, Courtesy car, Hertz Rental cars and a great lounge to sit out Weather!. Augusta features world class golf nearby at Flint Hills Country Club and is a straight shot to nearby shopping malls and great places to eat. One great attraction nearby, is the Kansas Aviation Museum, one of the best adventures we have visited in a long while. - Submitted by LLoyd Partin

K-18 Cafe - Lucas, KS

Beautiful hard surface runway. Park and walk up hill 50 yards to quaint facility with excellent B-fast menu. #3 is my favorite. Pancakes as big as the plate with hot coffee. A favorite for pilots on Sunday mornings. If you like homemade hashbrowns you'll find none better. Lucas has many interesting shops to include the Garden of Eden. Located near scenic Wilson Lake , I've been flying to it since the seventies . - Submitted by Terry Burger

We flew in and borrowed the courtesy car and drove around 5 miles to the Little House on the Prairie Museum. Nice little park and area of interest to anyone who loved the little house on the prairie books by Laura Ingles Wilder. Mid-America Air Museum - Liberal, KS

Liberal Mid-American Regional Airport KLBL is a nice country airport. We choose Liberal Airport because of the large air museum on the airport $7 admission. Well worth it, if you enjoy looking at 100+ military and civilian aircraft. The FBO staff at Lyddon Aero Center are very nice and accommodating nice FBO. They offered us a GMC Envoy courtesy car overnight. We stayed at Liberal Inn $74 not recommended but it is a good 2-star inexpensive hotel free breakfast vouchers with a restaurant and lounge restaurant open until 10:30pm Lounge open until 2:00am. The hotel staff were friendly.
